Caramel Apple Sweet Rolls…

Every part of that title makes my hungry!  These rolls melt in your mouth… Although they may be a task to take on… They are worth every minute of it!  I like to make the dough and filling up the day before … That way it doesn’t feel like I’m in the kitchen all day working on these!  They are a special treat to have though… I love making them up for family gatherings!

Caramel Apple Sweet Rolls Recipe and Tutorial

 

There is 3 separate recipes to pull together … Here they are:

Dough for the Rolls:

4 Cups Milk (I used whole),  1 cup canola or vegetable oil,  1 cup sugar,  9 cups flour (divided),  5 tsp yeast,  1 1/2 tsp baking powder,  1 tsp baking soda,  1 TBLS salt

Apple Filling:

8 Granny Smith Apples,  2 sticks butter (1 cup),  2 cups brown sugar,  1 cup heavy cream,  2 tsp cinnamon

Caramel Icing:

2 sticks butter (1 cup),  2 cups brown sugar,  1 cup heavy cream,  4 cups sifted powdered sugar,  1/2 tsp salt


 

In a large pot combine 4 cups milk, 1 cup oil and 1 cup sugar.  Bring to almost a boil and remove from heat.  Let it cool for about an hour.

Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let set for 5 minutes

Add 8 cups of flour and mix

Cover and let rise for about 1 hour

Add the last cup of flour, 1 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp baking soda, and 1 TBLS salt

Mix it together... This can get a 'lil' messy... I like to just get down and dirty and use my hands at this point

Your dough is ready!  At this point you can continue on or you can store your dough in the fridge for up to 3 days... just make sure to check on it now and then and punch it down... or you might end up with a monster taking over the inside of the fridge... we don't want that!

Mix them together and let cool for at least 20-30 mins
