In the past I’ve been given a hard time about using Butter and I’m sure I’ll hear about it again.
There is always a “new” way of eating … eat this not that… all protein, no carbs… eat raw, don’t cook it… weight watchers, jenny craig… diet this, diet that… Usually the person that tells me about this or that has recently jumped on that band wagon and its working for them. Of course its working at the moment… You recently just changed up your diet and are resetting your metabolism. The funny thing is it usually ends up being a “phase” and they probably end up walking away from the extreme move after a few weeks to a couple months… Sound familiar??
I’m not knocking anyone from trying something new or from trying to be “healthy” that’s not it at all. I believe in eating moderately and working exercise into your daily lives… does wonders for you. Since I’ve had kids and have been held responsible for feeding them I’ve become more and more aware of what we are putting in our bodies.
I don’t think its too technical… I just like to ask myself a simple question… was this ingredient or food around 50-100 years ago??? Butter, Milk, Flour, Sugar, Salt, Oil… Bread, Pasta, Cake, Cookies YES … Trisodium Phosphate, Yellows 5&6, Red 40, Blue 1, Polysorbate 60, Oh and my favorite… Sorbic Acid (to retain freshness)… Cheetos, Twinkies, Chicken Nuggets, Hamburger Helper, Spaghetti Oh’s … NO …. Not only can I not pronounce most of the ingredients found in today’s packaged processed food… But I sure as heck don’t have those things hanging out in my cupboards.
I’m not sitting here saying eat this way and not that way but just to be more aware of what it is exactly that you are eating and putting in you body.
For me it works to feed myself and my family things that I make… from scratch! And to stay active… which isn’t too hard to do with 4 kids!
Butter… Good or Bad???

One response to “Butter… Good or Bad???”
I totally agree. I hate the pressures this generation puts on each other about what foods we eat. (especially from one mom to another!) Some people’s bodies are different and require different ‘diets’ or restrictions. But for the most part you have to do what is best for your own family, and eating everything in moderation and as little preservatives as possible is the best way. 🙂
