English Muffin Bread
Do you like English Muffins??? If so you’ll like this bread! I don’t usually make sandwiches with this bread… But we do make toast with it in the morning and all of my kids LOVE it! Its soft, chewy and fresh because you made it! Its also really easy to make… no kneading… just a little rise time! Try it out with your family and let me know what you think!
Here is what you’ll need:
2 1/2 cups warm milk 110-120 degrees
5 tsp yeast
6 cups flour
1 TBLS sugar
2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
cornmeal for dusting baking pans
Oven Temp 400 degrees
In you mixing bowl add 3 cups of the flour, 1 TBLS sugar, 2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp baking soda and 5 tsp yeast… Give it a quick mixWith the mixer on add the 2 1/2 cups warm milk… Let it mix and change out to a dough hook or use a wooden spoon and add the remaining 3 cups flour and mixDough should be thick and sticky like
Grease and dust your pans with cornmealAs even as you can add the dough to each panI greased the end of my fingers and pressed the dough into the pansCover with saran wrap or a damp towel and let rise till double in size… about 45 minutes to an hour
After it has grown place in a pre heated 400 degree oven for 25 minutesPull out and let cool for 5-10 minutes before pulling from the panPull out and let cool completely! Enjoy 🙂
I plan on trying this recipe, believe me! I was in ARizona for 6 months and purchased English Muffin bread from our local baker all the time, loved it! I will eat so much toast if I made this I might finally gain a few pounds that I desperately need. Thank you for sharing these recipes.
I have been making your Amish White Bread, Cinnamon Rolls, and French Bread all with great success! I have never been much of a baker-nothing turned out well. I can cook all day long-but, baking? no way—until now. Yay!!! Thanks for all these great recipes. Quick question….when do you use all purpose flour and when do you use bread flour? Thanks, Teri (looking forward to trying English Muffin bread next!)
Thats awesome to hear Teri! Love it! And for the most part I use AP flour all the time… Even when it calls for bread I tend to go for the AP! English muffin bread is best toasted 😉
