About Me

A little about me…

I’m a Wife and a Mother of four beautiful children…  Three rapidly growing boys followed up by a little girl that has brought so much love to our family (and a lot more pink around)!!  I am also a local Real Estate Broker at REMAX Elite and have been selling real estate in the greater Puget Sound area of Washington State since 2005.  My biggest job of all is baking, cooking, cleaning and feeding this ever growing family of mine!

I started Blogging just recently in January 2014.  I was always guilty of posting some of my favorite goodies and dinners on my personal Facebook page… I would get questions and requests so I thought why take a little extra time and take some pictures during the process and post them on a blog to share with everyone.  Needless to say I would consider this my other “job” but I love it so much it never feels like work 😉  I’m having a great time and everyday I feel like I learn something new!  My favorite part of all is connecting with others that enjoy the food like I do!

The biggest thing for me and my family is that I want to know what goes in our bodies.  In this day and age there are so many processed foods and preservatives added into everything.  I really could go on and on about that… but I don’t want to bore you too much.  Basically I like to make things from scratch as often as I can… Not only did I see a dramatic drop in the cost of our monthly food costs but I feel like I’m more aware of what I’m feeding my family.  It’s also a plus to pull the kids into the kitchen with me and have them help me prepare their meals… they love it!

I hope some of my recipes can help inspire you with your family and their everyday meals!

  1. Hi Sandy! I discovered you through the Monroe fb group – I loooove your recipes! Just wanted to introduce myself, I’m a local blogger too.

    • Thanks Bianca! The blogging is all a lil new to me but I’m having fun and am loving sharing my recipes! Checked out your blog too… love it! And congrats on the new lil bundle of joy! 🙂

  2. I’m new to this site. I do have one question. In your Cinnamon roll recipe when you first add the flour (8cups) you didn’t mention if you add the baking power, soda, and salt. But in the addition of the last cup of flour you did mention baking power, soda, and salt. I realize that most people would add the baking power, soda, and salt with the entire amount of flour. I always have. So my question is do you add the baking power, soda, and salt to the ENTIRE amount of flower? I hope you answer this as I already have my milk, oil and sugar cooling. Thanks so much, can’t wait to see all you do.

    • Hi Ann… Sorry was out on a Costco trip this morning! So once you add the 8 cups of flour you let it set for another hour… this helps really activate the yeast. After the hour you add the extra cup and powder, soda, and salt. Once you’ve mixed that in your ready to go or you can stick it in the fridge for up to 3 days! Hope that answers your question!

  3. Just wanted to say “HI!” I found you through someone who posted your biscuits recipe on Facebook and am excited to try it. Looks like you have lots of other great, yummy recipes I’ll have to try as well! I appreciate the ‘scratch’ cooking, as I too am trying to move away from the processed convenience foods more. Just making a bigger effort to be more prepared in the kitchen with simple, but yummy scratch recipes instead of it being a chore and taking hours to make. Feeding the family well is always a good feeling and something to pass on! So, thanks! 🙂

    • Thanks Kristi!! I love hearing from others… So thanks for taking the time to comment!!! I found the easiest way to stay prepared is to buy in bulk on the basics… Flour, sugars, butter and shortening, salt, yeast … I can usually work off those basics… and when you buy them in bulk its so much cheaper in the long run!!!
